Nice article here I hadn't seen yet, I like how Rex addresses the issue about if they're concerned about how online/tourney players will respond to the changes. He also addresses the add then remove cycle Madden was in.

That's my favorite line in the article and the biggest indicator that it is written by Owen Good. I guess it's fine to simply have a halftime show in the game. It doesn't need to look or sound anything like a real one so we can simply declare it the best we've had. Apparently, the guys at 2k took a dump in Owen's coffee one day years back, because no matter what, he won't ever give them an ounce of credit for setting the bar in their presentation in their sports games, yet Madden can continue to grossly underachieve and it seems to be completely acceptable.

Way to go Owen! Objective journalism at its best!

Ya I am pretty sure there were a number of things that made people consider 2k5 better than madden. It took 2k5 6 years to get online franchise since their first game. It took ea 5 years after the last 2k5 game and also still no gang tackling. But lets bring back a cone and get asked the question, can we turn it off? There is a reason people keep asking if they can turn off the cone animation because nobody cares for it.
