Why can't madden bring back franchise?

Not entirely true from what I understand. XP is used for progression and a major way of gaining XP is reaching on field (game or season) goals. So you still have to deal with XP/Goals for your team to progress even if you have the CPU spend the XP. So I think your statement isn't entirely true.

If I want an rpg, I would play Skyrim. Not Madden.

I agree. I think they can fix this under the current setup though, as they've already shown us (through the coop and offline multiplayer vs online commissioner options) that the modes don't necessarily have to be the exactly the same line for line. IMO, them using the "connected" aspect as rationale for limitation seems questionable at best, seeing as they had issues with such aspects before their mode merger.

Customization is just an issue with EA Sports as a whole and has been for some time (to me, at least): it seems they either don't understand, don't appreciate, or simply don't know how to properly execute options that puts more control in the hands of users. It's not just Madden, either...all of their games put unnecessary (IMO) restrictions on the user in some capacity.

EDIT: As for the XP discussion/debate, if anything it shows exactly why allowing FULL editing is so valuable, as it can override ANY progression (or AI logic, for that matter) issues one may have.

You nailed it on the head. I will also be playing madden 25. Maybe I will buy madden 25 when I get my ps4.

Madden 25 has a player XP system too it's just in the form of practice and in game goals rather than Game Prep and in game goals. Best of luck though.

Well, I agree with the gentleman in that I want my team oriented sports games to be more realistic and not arcady. The RPG/XP element just keeps taking me out of being immersed in an NFL world and just keeps reminding me that it's just a game.

You can be as snarky as you want to be, but it's personal preference.

I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way. I have brought madden every year since 99. This will be the first year that I won't.
