Take a look at what some real NFL teams are named after:

Cleveland Browns - named after coach/GM Paul Brown
Buffalo Bills - Buffalo Bill Cody
Green Bay Packers - Indian/Acme Packing Company
New Orleans Saints - song "when the saints go marching in"

Is a Newspaper really that far off? One of the developers mentioned it was more done as a joke/easter egg to see if fans would recognize the connections.

Re: Relocation cities

I have a question. If a CPU team say Jacksonville moves to a new city can another team eventually relocate to Jacksonville later down the road?

No teams can only relocate to the selected cities in the game. The only two actual NFL cities in it are Chicago and Houston. So if you moved the Bears another team could relocate to Chicago but they couldn't take the Bears name.

What is realism when it comes to fake team names?? But if you really want realism how is this:

The USFL had a team named the Los Angeles Express.
The WFL had a team named the Jacksonville Express.
The IFL had two different teams named Express.
The UFL had a team named the New York Sentinels.

Ignore the Newspaper references and you see both of these have been used in real pro football teams. As have several of the other team names.

There's a third: Brooklyn is one of the five boroughs of New York City.

Yes but technically no team plays in New York City, both teams play in Jersey.
