Re: Real video of commentary guys instead of cartoon?

I prefer the animated announcers. I'm not a big fan of using real video in the place of animation using the game's resources.

As for the real life QB videos.. it's great for play now, but what happens in CFM when you inevitably get a new QB? Drafted players obviously won't have this, but say I can't resign Cam Newton in Carolina and I sign Sam Bradford instead. Will I be seeing Sam Bradford's Rams highlights when he's been on my team for 2-3 years? I'm guessing yes.

This brings me to an over-arching point when it comes to all sports video games (that I've played). It always seems that commentary/graphics/presentation elements are designed for play now or 1 season worth of games. Why aren't these elements designed with longevity in mind? With the understanding that players change teams and they evolve over the years?

This probably isn't the thread for it, but it's something that's been on my mind the last few months.

My opinion is most of that stuff is to draw in the casual fans. The ones who might only play one season of CFM if any, and will spend most of their time playing play now games with their friends.

Just a thought. Has anyone seen the Matt Ryan Falcons screenshot after they scored a touchdown? How they had him throwing the ball up and such?

Maybe they have the animated scene like this for future rookies? Or for players that have switched teams. Obviously wouldn't be highlights, but would be better than a black box or 3 year old highlights.

I'm pretty sure the Matt Ryan thing was part of the " highlight montages " feature that they talked about a while ago

Oh I'm not saying it isn't. I was just suggesting they could have used the 3D models in place of the highlight videos for QB walk-outs for future rookies/traded players. I doubt they did, but it was just as suggestion. Rather than the blank black boxes or silhouettes.

Re: Real video of commentary guys instead of cartoon?

I may be in the minority... but I do not want real announcers in the game at all. Sometimes it works [Fifa and MLB 2k series] but for the most part the announcers sound stiff and disjointed.

I prefer fake announcers with lines recorded by voice actors. Since they are not expensive and busy hired help they usually have more recorded lines and sound like they are actually in the same room together talking because..well they are when they record. The best play by play/color I have heard in any game past and present was Terry McGovern and Jay Styne (aka Dan Stevens and Peter O'keefe). Nothing has ever come close. "You can't coach that!"

Stevens and O'keefe were amazing. I know I am in the minority but my favorite Madden announcer of all time was the no name hometown radio one. I don't mind them using real announcers I just wish they would pick the best ones instead of the most popular. Some of the best in the business are found on the hometown radio stations.
