Moore uses all sorts of metrics and measurements to come up with ratings. Then, he tweaks the numbers weekly after watching all the games and pondering feedback from fans and even the players themselves.

this is off twitter yesterday somebody posted this story.

To be fair, where the hell else are you going to get game tape from a Vanderbilt kicker? It's obviously a more in depth process with first round picks and higher profile rookies. The ratings of a kicker from Vanderbilt aren't exactly at the top of the priority list.

Donny Moore has been absolutely abysmal at his ratings job for as long as I can remember. The fact that he calls himself a "czar" just adds to the hilarity.

Well, you can request them from Vanderbilt university for one. I mean, even I can browse youtube, but Vandy's sure not gonna give me game tape. BUT I will concede after reading the other article in this thread, it is a little tough and maybe Donny does the best he can with what he got. (Still no excuse for SOME of the stuff he puts in there though.)

Re: Interesting article regarding Madden ratings

The ratings and rating changes are part of the marketing. And a lot of times they dont make sense to me. For example if WR A is a 99 the opposing team double teams WR A all game long and he has only a catch or two the next week he goes to a 98. But why? He is less aware or slower? What exactly goes down?
What all sports games need to get away from is the importance of the overall rating. And more so on displaying strengths and weaknesses more clearly.

Re: Interesting article regarding Madden ratings

Madden Ratings have always been manipulated to adjust the OVR rating and therefore some players are horribly rated in some attributes IMO. Physical attributes are weighted way too high and therefore most guys either get under rated in those attributes, or guys that have high physical attributes get under rated in skill attributes.

1. Production
2. Skills traits
3. Physical traits

That's the order I believe the OVR should be calculated.
