you have to look at it differently, you dont go into the scouting trying to find the best overall rated players you can. You go in looking for the best players that fit your system. you can do this one of two ways - 1) Scout the attributes that fit the schemes you have selected or, 2) Scout the attributes that suit your play style.
I created an excel tool to help in my scouting process, its time comnsuming typing the necessary information in, but the surprise element is worth it.
With my tool, I scouting only necessary skills that fit the scheme i selected and the style I play, more emphasis on scheme because it affects their overall.
I landed 70 rated players throughout the draft, a 78 LT in the 6th the first time I tested it, and just 5 minutes ago a 70 rated corner in the 6th.
i too agree that scouting points are too low, but then again I think the whole scouting system needs to be trashed and rebuilt. Do away with points and give us notes, stats, records, and the opportunity to play/see a prospect to make our own judgement - just as a real scout/coach/gm would do!
