Defensive Backs

I love the fact that the defense actually covers things this year, but at times it feels like they get some unfair advantages through game mechanics.

I have to sometimes abandon curl routes and other timing patters that are more than 5 yard passes because of this.

So with a curl route the object is to get the DB to turn his back and then make the throw in time with the break of the WR. In this game you can do this, but a good amount of time the DB will magically stop and get a boost back in front of your WR for an INT.

I've just noticed on a lot of patterns where my WR or TE gets the DB to go the wrong way, they just recover so quickly. I am reading the defense and when it's man coverage I look for my best option. I wait for the DB to turn his hips the wrong way and throw it on the break, unfortunately in this game it leads to too many INTs when the DBs and Linebackers have amazing first step speed and can go from facing the endzone to your WR without hesitation.

Anyone else getting annoyed by this?

Re: Defensive Backs

Yes I noticed this too, I also noticed that it can sometimes be a problem with your WR and not so much super natural DB's. I was having this issue but toned it down by improving my WR's route running and AWR. He creates more separation now and sells the route better than before.

It's weird but having an underdeveloped WR actually makes opposing DB's better in a way (imo).

Re: Defensive Backs

One thing that irritates me is that when you run a smash concept against cover 2 hard the corner is able to adequately defend the short hitch and or flat route AND the flag route..... Irritating to say the least

Re: Defensive Backs

if its man, then ya u gotta time it right or hes taking it back. in zone, flood the area, a flat under neat, the lb will chase and the cb will be over top and wont jump the route unless u throw it to early. curls are fine, u just have to know how to manipulate the defense to open a certain route up.

Re: Defensive Backs

I'm not having any problem with that.
What I do is throw the ball as soon as my receiver stops. You're not going to be succesful againts elite defenders every time. That's to be expected.

Please don't take me wrong, but those complaints about defense is overpowered shows that people are so used to somewhat arcadey madden games. And now having difficulties. Again I'm not saying you are casual football gamer.

Re: Defensive Backs

I've had this happen to me quite a bit but I think that the coverage bluff helps with this problem.
