Re: How to pass over a defender

A lot of leagues though go with the no switch rule to let player ratings and not "stick skill" decide the game.
In Madden taking control of a WR etc.. has no counter done by the AI so yeah it's an easy catch most times, especially with no O or D pass interference calls.
Not saying user catching is wrong(even though I never do it) just that, in this case it doesn't help the OP if he wants to get better at the timing of it.

Press the receiver button and down on the analog sticks for lob pass.

Do NOT do this. Down on the left stick while throwing is to intentionally under throw. Insetead, point the left stick to lead the pass away throm the defender.

If you do the Skills Trainer it tells you to hold down on the left stick and press the receiver button to throw a lob...

Never seen this. Down will lead ball behind WR if he is running a go route.

Re: How to pass over a defender

To lob, you just tap the button. On a go route it could be useful to set up a jump ball where you have a mismatch. But all the left stick down does is intentionally underthrow. Personally I would rather lead outside and maybe slightly underthrow, just to keep it away from the saftey playing over the top on a corner route. But straight down? No way. That's asking to throw a pick.

Yeah, in skills trainer it does not tell you pressing down on left stick will lob it. Down on the left stick is primarily for throwing the ball low for stick and curl routes.
