What is wrong with the commentary?

I've always thought EA should just hire two actors to do the commentary like 2K did. I don't care if they are real or have anything to do with football in real life, if they have nice sounding voices, insightful and don't come off as robotic I will be happy. This of course, wouldn't be an absolute fix if EA doesn't implement/script the commentary right.

Peter O'Keefe and Dan O'Toole were the best commentators. EA will never go that route because of marketing. They want to be able to say they have the top broadcast team in the NFL (even if they are horrible).

Part of it is that the commentary is poorly put together, but another part is that the commentators just suck themselves. Give me some Kevin Harlan or Gus Johnson as the play-by-play guy with whoever as the colour guy, let them sit in a booth and record hours upon hours of commentary whilst they are watching a madden game and results will come.

I have always thought less is more, when it comes to commentary.

Make it simple, fluidly interchangeable, and to the point. Save the little stories and anecdotes for the 'commercial breaks' or halftime. I don;t need color commentary that last for a play and a half talking about the first down from 3 plays ago.

Nobody has really stepped up and changed the commentary game since the inception of Gen-3 consoles. It has got better, but nothing revolutionary has come along.

I say make it simple and on point, then use that extra disc space for something else.

They tried that already once, it was a train wreck. Was quite hilarious though. I think Greg Gumble would be the best and is the best on CBS.
