Need Help....

I am trying to play now vs my son and when we go to the play now screen the 2nd remote is not able to choose sides. It remains in the middle of the screen unhighlighted and will not work. The only button that works is the xbox button allowing you to choose to turn off the control or the system. Help.

Try going into the head to head with only one controller on maybe? Then once you're there turn the second one on?
