Are you penalized for firing staff in the offseason that are still under contract? For example, if I fire a coach with a $4M/yr contract with 2 years remaining, will I still have to pay his salary each week?

Has anyone tested/figured this out? Also, and this would be lame, but if there's no penalty could you hire and fire scouts and scout their discount attribute each time?
