What's even worse is that EA's sliders in most cases are broken. There is even a possibility that some of the players abilities are potentially linked to the penalty sliders.
Additionally, there is the issue of having a large enough sample size. For example the Superbowl last year. If you did some slider testing as Denver vs. Seattle and had a game play out like the Superbowl, you would immediately adjust sliders.
So you really need to play 5 or 10 games take notes and find a constant theme and tweak from there.
Some sliders, 1 tick makes all the difference in the world, others do nothing, the opposite or are just broken.
My advice would be play 10 games on default, check the trends, make adjustments, play another 5 or 10 games and if stats are within reason just go play and have fun. Otherwise you will be doomed into the depths of slider hell and never return.
I just don't have time or patience to try to fix EAs games for them with broken sliders anymore. Its an exercise in futility.
