Question regarding changing a player's position

I read that attributes you've accumulated get reset when player's have had their positions changed, when you switch their position after the draft. Is this in fact, the case?

Is it safe to build up attributes on say, a LG then change him to a LT, without the points you spent on attributes, resetting?

Or is it safe/better to just switch them on the depth chart instead, without the consequences of attributes resetting?

I'm just not sure if the attributes get reset or not, or really how. That's why I'm asking. I just don't want my progress on some O-linemen I plan on moving around being lost. So, how does it work? Thanks in advance.
