Is there a way to see the attributes of the free agents during the off season signing period?

Not from within the signing screen you have to exit and look. What I do is keep a pen and paper handy, write down all the guys I want to target and look at their stats once and grade them out that way (I don't look at ratings because I like to keep it close to realistic).Comment

I like to look at their ratings as a way of scouting the player. If you're going after someone that didn't get much time on the field then it's tough to just look at stats. On the other hand, if it's a big name, highly productive player then stats are always good to look at alsoNot from within the signing screen you have to exit and look. It would be nice if Madden had something more similar to 2k's letter grade system. Sure it has physical/intangible but I would like to see letter grades for general skillsets.I like to look at their ratings as a way of scouting the player. I make judgement calls on those players, the game limits how much you can act like a real GM but for me looking at ratings kills the immersion. I like to sign guys who look like they might fit my scheme, they could work out or they could be complete busts. Keeps it more realistic to me, a real GM doesn't have ratings to look at. He has to decide whether or not that player will fit his scheme especially ones who have limited playing time.I like to look at their ratings as a way of scouting the player. Surprises me how lack luster FA is, there's almost no info on these players. Do they even have stats for them? I'd like to see some player's ratings, especially vets, maybe they've taken a plummet in their ratings, or maybe a young guy has really high CIT after a season. I wouldn't mind scouting FA like 2k does.Comment

I agree with you with not showing the exact ratings. I just wish they would show the scheme and player type for the free agents and at least something like scouting where you can see a letter grade for the attributes.I make judgement calls on those players, the game limits how much you can act like a real GM but for me looking at ratings kills the immersion.
