Re: Lack/Absence of holding penalties really is a huge issue

Whenever an EA Dev weighs in on this topic, their response is always something similar to "well, our research shows that our users HATE penalties, especially since they are so random!"

Two thoughts on that:

Sliders. For the love of god, please make them EFFECTIVE. That way, you can leave penalties as-is on default so you don't upset the precious casuals, and those of us who are looking for a more realistic experience can crank them up and actually see a realistic amount of penalties. Everyone wins.

Make them less random and tie the frequency to ratings, coaching and strategy! Why do penalties happen in real life?

1. Experience. Rookies more prone than veterans, typically.

2. Fatigue. When you are tired, you are more prone to mental mistakes, and try to make up for tired legs by holding/grabbing.

3. Matchup skill differential. When you are a below-average corner assigned to a elite WR, you have to bump, grab, and trip him frequently to avoid getting burned on almost every play.

4. Coaching/strategy. Some coaches want to be aggressive, causing more penalties. Some hate penalties and will take the occasional sack or long ball deep to avoid seeing a barrage of yellow hankies.

Implementing this stuff into the game would take work, but would make the game IMMENSELY better because it would mean player ratings matter, coaching styles matter, and users would have strategic decisions to make. These are all things that are sorely lacking in the current rendition.

How does a spambot work? How does it know what to post?

I am getting way more false starts from both the CPU and myself. Basically what I do is force myself to do at least one fake snap per play. My last game I had 7 penalties. 6 False starts and 1 Roughing the Passer. And one of the False Starts was with under a minute left on 3rd & 1 and me leading 30-24 against Seattle. Funny thing was all the false starts were from Herremans and Johnson, so perhaps confidence and awareness has something to do with it. The CPU had 3 penalties but in the game before that they had 6.

I got more before this most recent patch actually. Now I get 1 or 2 a game if that.

I actually got an illegal hands to the face in my favor as they scored a TD, but I watched the replay and it didn't look like that. It looks like he stepped out of bounds came back in and scored
