Well his best hand time was 4.43, the same as Mariota, but yet Mariota gets an 88 and Gordon a 91.

However, once again, 40 times do not equal speed. TOP END SPEED is how EA defines the SPD rating, not the 40 time. So, to end this debate, let's see how they SHOULD be in SPD.

Mariota = Green
Gordon = Red

According to the graphic below, Mariota reached a maximum velocity of 11.14 yds/sec in 2.92 seconds. Gordon reached 10.85 yds/sec in 2.99 seconds. This means that Mariota should actually have better SPD and ACC than Gordon, but Gordon fell off less to get to the 40 yard mark at the same time as Mariota. Therefore, Gordon would have better endurance/stamina.

Well, once you reach a certain age in the NFL, you don't necessarily get faster (unless your name is Darrell Green) So of course some of these speedsters out of college are going to have faster "speed" as some of the game's best.
