Might be my last Madden ever!

I've been playing Madden for a long, long, long time and I can honestly say I'm glad I got the game for free this year and didn't spend $60 on it.


Everyone has their opinion some think the game is great some think it's garbage.


But IMO this is the worst madden I've ever played. why you ask??


To start I'm playing on All Pro default sliders and using the 49ers in my CFM. I've also tried other teams, Bucs, Bengals and Broncos.


The #1 issue I have in this game is unless you have a top tier qb this game is unplayable. Using the 49ers Kap can not hit a open WR. I'd say nearly 50% of his passes are not even close to the WR I choose to throw to.


At first I thought maybe it was because I was moving but Kap has high pass on the run. But even as I stay planted in the pocket a ball thrown to a wide open crossing WR will go 10 yards past him. Being a 49ers fan I watch every game and Kap is not this bad of passer actually the worst QB in the NFL 9 out 10 times can hit a wide open WR on a short crossing route.


Now if I play with someone like Manning his passes are always spot on as expected Manning is a very very good QB. Point is I've used three avg QB Kap, Dalton and Winston and none of them can hit the broad side of a barn. The only luck I have is using Winston with him just bombing balls down field to VJax or Evans and the guys will come down with it 50% of the time using the aggressive catch feature.


Moving on from that.


Running in this game is just plain pointless last year a toss play never worked, only up the middle worked for me. This year it's the complete opposite. Not to mention guys barely block for you. I'll watch a WR who has guy in front of him that he could easily block and spring me for a huge gain run right past him and run all the way down the field for no reason.

Where do I even begin. FS and SS that should be playing zone are literally not even in the screen on a crossing pass over the middle as I helplessly watch mediocre WR's run down the field for 60, 70 or more yards down the field for TD's. There is just no balance, for instance playing with a stud in like Von Miller (99 overall) I can get the qb almost every time but playing with Aldon Smith (89 overall) I can't sniff the qb. Von Miller is great but he's not super man if I played a season with the Broncos I'd probably have 40+ sacks with him.


I do like the animations this year and the presentation, graphics and face models are pretty nice as well. Usually those are the things I complain about and I typically enjoy the game enough cause the game play is good enough to keep me coming back for more. Right now I'm not even sure if I want to play this game anymore because it's so damn frustrating.


Sorry for the rant. I can't be the only one that feels this way.


If I am you guys have any tips or slider adjustments to make my game playing experience a tad better?

Because you are not that good at it. I don't want to be that guy, we all hate that guy, but that is what the post reads.

I haven't played the game but what you said about QB accuracy gives me hope. However, if you are having problems raise human QB accuracy slider a bit. Start by bringing it up 5 points.

Having said that it is time to be brutally honest. I very seriously doubt that 50% of Kap's passes are no where close to the target. This is a great deal of hyperbole on your part. And in my experience when that happens the person turned out to have very little credibility. Just putting that out there.

Running plays -- Just from that brief paragraph, how good is your football knowledge? That bit about the WR running downfield sounds like you ran a draw play or something. Its nothing to be embarrassed about. ONe of my friends accidentally ran the ball sometimes because they saw the streak on the playart.

Also, you need more than running "up the middle" or toss plays. It helps to understand different fronts, blocking assignments, player strengths, etc.

On defense -- crossing routes have always been an issue for Madden. If you do not pressure the QB it is often a easy completion. I cannot speak to the nuances of this year's pass rush but I can offer some generic advice.

Pay attention to formations, position of the ball presnap relative to the hasmarks (wide side of the field vs short side), and personnel matchups. Catch on to playcalling tendencies. Go beyond calling a play and then controlling a player.

Getting hit on crossing routes? Come out in a nickel zone and hot route the nickel corner to man cover the crosser. Then shade defense to that WR. No idea if that would work this year, but the idea is to experiment. Too many people call a play and think their coaching responsibilities end at that point.
