Let's talk defense

Because I'm struggling. Not sure what coverages to even play anymore. Can't get to the QB but they sure get to me. Have to run max protect all the time. Seem to struggle against TE's especially. I'm talking offline. It's well documented the ends can't get pressure but just curious what you guys run and specify if you use a 4-3 or 3-4. Thanks

I hear ya! I am going with the lions play book for d (4-3 i think) and only playing mut solos (until patch for cfm).

One thing I have noticed is pressure on the qb. It is important, but you don't always have to get a sack.

Honestly, timing and your button presses for moves at the line are a big thing this year. I play with the Bills, and I find that getting my timing just right, I get to the QB frequently with Mario Williams and cause havoc.

This year, even if you get any sort of pressure on the AI QB they act appropriately and you see them struggle as a result

I wish the CPU was able to do the same though. I like to user somebody in the secondary rather than be the pass rusher, but if you do that then you don't get much pressure.

It also kind of ruins stats in a CFM if you are playing online/with buddies. People will always just use the best player on their dline which means all the sacks are coming from a single player most of the time

It's harder this year to play defense due to the offensive tools that were added and the lack of penetration into the backfield from the ends. One of things that I've be experimenting with is man blitzing with press coverage. Bringing one more defender than the offense can block is all I have been able to do to affect the pocket and ultimately inaccuracy. I would rather imploy Fire-Zone blitzs, but the line play picks the stock plays up.
