But then you don't get to save the money you would otherwise pay the player. Not even the remainder of their signing bonus gets paid if they retire. And if he was highly paid, you could probably get a few decent free agents with that extra money

Yea but if it is a star QB or something similar and your entire offense is primarily built off of the passing game and he retires it will kind of screw your offense. This wouldn't be a problem after a few years when you have developed your offense more and have started planning for their retirement but after 1 year and they retire it can kind of screw you up.

The game shouldn't have to do specific things, like hold off a retirement, so people can plan. When a star player retires and a team isn't prepared for it. They deal with it and rebuild. (example: Ricky Williams/Miami) Suck it up and play the next year with whoever you have a rebuild. Don't try to toss nonsense at EA to try and fix something that isn't broken.

My gripe personally isn't that it isn't realistic ( in a RPG kind of way ) or that the game should offer any help or avoid hindering users but merely that it should allow options for its customers to play as they want
Why not allow us to retire/ unretire or heal/ injure players ? That way you can have the choice and choose if you wish to play with real time injuries and retirements , madden version or any combination

Re: CFM retiring players

On the opposite side of the retirement discussion. Do any players come out of retirement, who are currently retired? I remember the previous Maddens' had Kurt Warner coming out of retirement as an example.

Re: CFM retiring players

The players who should retire are the ones that pass through 2 FA cycles without being signed. I would much rather sign FA with UDFA from the last 2 drafts.

I don't think so. Current players can retire and come back, but I'm not sure if anybody that is currently retired will cone out
