As most of you know, Suggs is a beast with power moves while Doom is excellent with finesse moves.

Here is what I noticed:

Finesse moves lead to more situations where the rusher quickly beats his man and gets a free hit on the QB, but it also seems to be higher risk as well. Sometimes Doom would blow past his man, but he was also prone to losing clearly and being removed from the play.

Power moves with Suggs on the other hand were different. He did not get nearly as much instant pressure, but he also very rarely "lost." He had more coverage sacks then Doom and the longer the QB held the ball, the more at risk he was from Suggs. Suggs also always maintained a position where he could make a play on his side, such as the QB trying to scramble or a short pass to Suggs' side of the field.

It basically comes down to finesse moves have a higher chance of "winning" on that first move, but if he fails there isn't much of a second effort.

I did not factor in matchups however. Doom went up against LTs while Suggs was up against RTs. And there are other considerations as well (other ratings like acc and the like)
Your post, in my experience, is 100 percent accurate.

I user a d-line/pass rusher 95 percent of the time. I have Von/Ray on the outside (finesse) and Wolfe/Jackson on the inside (power).

A finesse move has a high chance of the pass rusher ending up on the ground or stoned at the line. When it does work, you slip past and get to the qb very quick. Power move is safer but takes longer to get to qb.

Also, for those that don't know, when double teamed on run or pass power move gives him the hands to perform that "slip through" animation and break the double team block.

Also again, I've noticed that if I wait a split second before attempting the move, instead of mashing X right away with Von, I have a better chance. Especially when I engage, get the blocker pushed back one step, and pick a side with the LS (left or right) before pressing X. It takes a little longer but is more successful much more often.

There was something else I noticed but this could be due to other ratings.

If I control someone in coverage, Suggs (power moves) performs better than Doom at getting to the QB.

If I control Suggs, his effectiveness is not much better than when the AI controls him.

If I control Doom, he suddenly becomes far more effective than Suggs and what he was if I allowed the AI to control him.

I'm thinking it is the result of Suggs being an all around beast while Doom is a pass rushing specialist, but maybe other people have noticed finesse guys being better when usered.

Yea in my experience a high strength/power move guy will do better with AI controlled pass rush than a finesse move guy. AI controlled pass rush, in general, is awful this year IMO, but a power move guy seems to do better with AI control than finesse.

Just my opinion from what I've seen.

I really wish AI controlled line play was better. I would like to user a safety but without a user pass rush I find I get literally NO pressure, not even with Von

Re: Power/finesse moves?

Spot on analysis from what I've seen.

Finesse moves are clearly the superior pass rushing move, however they're not as consistent as Power moves. Power moves typically never take you out of the play but rarely ever get me any sacks.

It's almost a toss up what you should use, entirely depends on the scenario you're in.
