Human to Human Trade Not Working

In our online connected franchise, my friend and I have agreed upon a trade (Luke Joeckel for a 4th round pick). I'm the commissioner of the league and trades are set to "Enable All". There have been several successful trades between human teams and the computer, but this is our first human to human trade.

Whether I propose the trade or he proposes it, once it is accepted, nothing happens. Joeckel is still on my team. He still has his pick. We get a message that the trade has been resolved/accepted (top right of the screen), but nothing has actually happened. I even tried accepting the trade via the internet instead of in game. Still no luck.

Has anyone else encountered this or know a work around? The trade deadline is this week, so I'm reluctant to advance and see if that makes the deal go through.

Have one of, or both of you played your game that week? If so, that's the hold up.

When we first started trying to make the deal, I had played my game and he had not. After he finished his game, we tried again. Still didn't work.

Do you have to do the trade before either team plays?

Since we've both played and the next advance puts us past the trade deadline, does that mean the deal won't happen, or will it go through when we advance? Thanks for the insight.

I had this happen but the next advance it worked.... we were still in preseason though

Maybe try adding to the deal? Like, throw in a swap of 7th rounders or a meaningless special teamer and if the deal goes through, send them back?

If you are simply doing a player for a draft pick, you probably have too many players on your roster. If his roster is at max, the trade would put him over the player limit. Either have him release a player, or trade a ****ty player to you in addition.

If your player plays in a game then he is not eligible to be traded until the next week.

Thanks for all the replies.

We tried throwing in a scrub player on his side of the deal, but that didn't work. It had to be, as has been suggested, because my player had already played. That's good to know. I wish I could immediately test it out after we advance tonight, but the trade deadline will have passed. Oh well, live and learn.
