Is it a perfect way to measure accuracy? Of course not. But it is still an even way to measure it. Every QB in the NFL deals with drops, throwaways, hits while throwing etc. They all play under the same conditions and over the course of an NFL season it levels off. The accurate QB's will still be above 60% regardless of all those excuses. Let's compare arguably the top 4 QB's in the NFL right now and look at Sacks and Drops:

Tom Brady - 34 sacks, 28 drops (leads NFL)
Carson Palmer - 23 sacks, 15 drops
Cam Newton - 27 sacks, 19 drops
Russell Wilson - 40 sacks (3rd in NFL), 10 drops

By your logic Brady's completion percentage should be affected by the fact that he has the most drops of any NFL QB, and get's hit more than most. But he is tied with Carson Palmer at 64.3%, a QB who has less sacks and almost half his drops. Accurate QB's don't need excuses.

Cam is a top 5 offensive weapon in the NFL and will probably win the MVP award, although I would say Palmer deserves it over anyone. But that does not make him an accurate QB. All the excuses in the world won't change that. And simply being an accurate QB doesn't make you a good QB either.

Completion percentage does not measure accuracy, it measures how often you complete a pass. There is too much difference between offenses and situations to directly compare completion percentages for accuracy. Does it have some general correlation to accuracy? Sure, but some QBs with >60% accuracy and over 50 passes.

AJ MCARRON, ZACH METTENBERGER, BLAINE GABBERT, EJ MANUEL, CASE KEENUM AND BRANDON WEEDEN.

A couple of these guys are near 70%. Anything you think is in common with these guys? It's clearly not accuracy, but conservative offenses? Maybe.

Also, Tom Brady, Carson Palmer and even Russell Wilson would like complete north of 70% of passes if they had Cam's line and ran their offenses. Russell and Tom throw short a ton of the time and Carson Palmer is a deep ball throwing god so he can do anything.

Point is, unlike your earlier comments. Cam Newton is a good QB. He can be accurate and citing completion percentage does not disprove that. Actually watching the throws he makes would convince you of this.

Plus Crom has been one of the worst DBs this year but he gets a boost over Tracy Porter whose been one of the best cover corners this season .

Tracy Porter is rated 96th overall out of all cornerbacks this year by PFF.
