what are some formation subs you have planned for your franchise?

First and foremost, with formation subs i probably will spend 2-3 roster spots on special team specific players, like a gunner or two for kickoff and punt coverage. I certainly wont have any WRs and TEs on the field for kick coverage and i'll sub the LBs and safeties out of kick return.

Taking a #1 WR and moving him to slot will help with the run and short yardage pass for me and it will allow me to manage my WR/TE targets so much better... I have to applaud those guys for getting it in day 1 (Hopefully it works for custom playbooks... just dont see how it would)

I'm going to find a true H-Back in the draft and sub him in on bunch situations for versatility.

Even though a FB isn't required I think lots of guys will operate without one, so I will take full advantage of the athletic blockers available

Barr and Kendricks in at Mike and WLB in Nickel Formation and A-gap, Greenway out (man that annoyed me adjusting every game).


Danielle Hunter in at LE on 3rd and Long/Medium... Speed Demon!!


Maybe some CP84 at HB out of the spread formation...?

Man. I was a little confused seeing this post at first. Then I saw the developer confirmation

For the Chargers, I have a few visioned

1) Sub woodhead in at most shotgun formations
2) On dime formations, sub Bosa in at DT and keep Ingram and attaochu on the outside
3) Nickle Strong formation: Going sub Addae in here. He's probably the chargers best tackler and I only use Strong on 3rd and short.
4) Once I figure out my go-to red zone plays, I'm going to sub James Jones in on those formations
5) Basically any formations with a TE split wide, I want Hunter Henry there. He's more mobile than Gates at this point. HH won't be a big mismatch like Green was, but still a favorable one.

Sorry if this was answered, but if I start my franchise on EA Access release day, will I have to restart my franchise in order for formation subs to be in my franchise once the patch releases?

To get the most out of this feature, as many are noting for scheme purposes, I'm going to player edit away from current generalized ratings to target more of a specific skill set...(hopefully no limitations)
**will probably start a "Player Skill Set" thread like this so folks have a template who want to get the most out of the Formation Subs.

ie
3rd Down Pass Rusher
- High (PUR+AGI+FMV+BSH+Low STA)
- these truly will be good for just one play

Blocking TE/H-Backs
- High (RBK+STR)
- Low (AGI+CTH+CAR)
- Horrible (RTE+CIT+RLS+SPC)

ST Gunners
- Very High (ACC+BSH+FMV+PUR+TAK)
- Not much talented in any other rating

I believe this will flesh out the use of Sub Formations w/players having specific skill sets, focusing on their use.

Going to be fun!!!

Great question. They've pushed EA Access so hard, since it's birth that I feel like they should consider that their "release date" in their office.
