Conversely all the top corners are not always on the left side of the defensive formation either as is the case in madden now.

It's not the left side necessary. The split end side could be the right side.

Some teams don't use the X,Y,Z alinement. But, typically most good beat press receivers are on the line of scrimmage.

A guy like DeShawn Jackson doesn't. He is usually a flanker. He's good but, not great at beating press.

Some teams even use both receivers OTL. They use the TE as more of an H-back that goes in motion.

Also not even X's line up OTL every time.

So I agree to an extent. But, if you watch games there is usually a guy who lined up at X most plays

If all number one wideouts are lining up to the left then they have to adjust the playbook. Aren't most passing plays designed in madden with the receiver on the right being the primary read?

And I agree it opens up some issues just because other things like the DB's are done right.

I'm just saying it was done on purpose

Seems like the primary target is all over from what can tell.

Re: CB depth charts

I mean it's not like it's all formations and sets. It changes based on what the team has in it's playbook. I love it because Steve Smith Sr is definitely the split end, like Boldin was, while Perriman/Wallace/Moore are the flankers like Torrey Smith was. Its been a long time since I really looked at receivers as WR1 and WR2 because the Ravens don't use them like that at all. I'm glad the franchise is going in the right direction.

In some sets Smith is on the right side, and the plays complement his style and abilities perfectly. It's really no different than the offensive formations that had Megatron in the slot automatically.

Re: CB depth charts

It used to be this way on ps1. Wr1 would like up on the left and wr 2 would like up on the right. I think they even had a RCB (right corner) and lcb (left corner) designation in the game.
