A feature I really miss is the team played for being included with the player card's career yearly stats. This small addition added authenticity and history to a CFM played throughout several seasons. The yearly stats for the players also removed any sign of who the game stat lines were produced against and just stacks them up without reference to opponent. Yes, you can go back and determine who the opponent was fairly easily with some additional clicking through menus, box scores, etc, but that's not the point. All of the stat data presented is also not totaled up at the bottom.

Going back several iterations of Madden (I forget which one it was) all of the aforementioned items were in the game, on the player card. When moving to the new generation of consoles-with much more storage space and power- these nice details were inexplicably left out.

Taking it a step further, why is there no historical record of Super Bowl winners, MVPs, off/def player of the year, etc? Stats could also be broken down into regular season and playoff categories for each player on their card.

Tracking individual franchise records and not just NFL records would be fun for someone playing a long term CFM with one team. Maybe a player won't be setting any NFL records but will break the franchise record for passing, rushing, etc.

It may seem like a small detail to some, but it would really enrich the historical context and immersion factor for a CFM experience.

I'm no computer programmer, but from a layman's point of view, these seem like simple additions to be made. I could be wrong.....

What are your thoughts?
Wow, man. You and I are cut from the same cloth. If you look at my post history you'll see that this has been a HUGE pet peave of mine for years now. I've been trying to track so much of this stuff with paper and pencil for years now and it has grown tiresome. Not to mention, it simply shouldn't be necessary in the year 2016.

Like you, I've been trying to rally the troops on this issue but have always fallen flat on my face. Needless to say, I've got your back.

It just isn't important to the developers, which is a theme for franchise players ever since the move to CFM. The fact that they said that this was a year they were focusing on CFM and we hardly got anything (fair play, we finally got formation subs back in a day one patch, that's good) really concerns me for what we'll be getting next year when CFM might not be a 'focus.'
Couldn't agree more. I haven't played '17 yet but I assume the fact that this thread exists means that these issues haven't been fixed. This is extremely disappointing to me considering the amount of "focus" that was supposed to be placed on CFM this year.

What good is the ability to player 30-some seasons if each one essentially ceases to exist the moment it ends.

I was hoping that at the very least they would have added former teams to the Career Stats tab of the player card, especially considering that it's been in the game before and, to some extent, still is. It's just very frustrating when you're trying to sign a free agent, particularly in a 32-team, user controlled league, and you can't even tell what teams a guy has played for in the past.

Maddening.

Re: Lack of statistical detail

I'd love all of the above... but until we have a full blown REAL coach mode (complete with making real game plans etc..) I won't be happy even with all the stats you could possible have.

It boggles my mind that Madden doesn't try and accomplish what NBA 2k does.

I don't understand why the team card shows which team the player played for in the main menu (where the stats never changs) but disappears in Franchise mode (where they are constantly updated).

I track my team's own stats, league standings and playoffs in an excel spreadsheet, have been doing it for years now. Its the most annoying thing to do for me in the off-season because the whole process takes me about an hour to do.

My thoughts are that you are completely right and whilst I love Connected Franchise mode the exact things that you mention are the things which take me out of it more than anything else.

Been doing this with paper and pencil since before Franchise mode even existed. Every year I hold out hope that it will be added, but never any luck. It really is mind-boggling because it would seem to me that stat-tracking is the heart and soul of any franchise mode. As I posted earlier, what's the point of playing 30-some season if there is no sense of history to it?

Re: Lack of statistical detail

I just wanted to add something that I don't think anyone else in this thread has brought up but I think is relevant. I really wish they would add a team's W-L record on the schedule screen. I peruse the schedule before and after each week to see any interesting match-ups and then the results. It's very frustrating to see that there's a great division showdown between, say the Packers and Bears, or that the Chiefs took down the Chargers but not have any context as to how those games effect the overall standings.

I feel like this too used to be in the game but can't be sure if and when. If it was, it's just another thing that needs to be added back in to help with immersion, although hopefully the new Score Ticker will help with this.
