"If you want to maximize your training and XP spending, the new development tool should only be used for your players 25 and under, ideally the ones with Quick or Star Dev."

Pretty much all I needed to know. Thanks for posting!

So, just done the draft. managed to get a QB & WR both with Superstar dev trait.

What is the best way to develop them, they are both my focus players for training but in terms of playing time?

I'm playing as the bears so want this new QB to replace Cutler, but the rookie is only a 74,

Shall i just chuck him in considering his dev trait ?

Look at the game and season goals for each and make sure to hit those. For the WR , make he gets 5 catches per game. For rookie QBs, consider pairing with a vet and have each of them play half of every game. Depending on how the rookie develops, you might trade the vet at week 8.

i think backup qb is 20 TDs, frankly whilst you build up tas and awr you might as well play him, cutler sucks but dont forget throw away and other traits important so they dont get killed

Ah okay thanks gents

I started him week 1 @ saints, 2TD's but got 3INT. 270 odd yards 68% pass completion

went with the 'realistic' approach and took him out of the firing line for week 2.
Cutler came in and did an okay job.
Have a couple of home games coming up so will put him back in.

Cutler is a nightmare to get rid off, insane contract and still another 3/4 years to run on it!

I'm still a newbie to NFL but already my number one pet hate is throwing interceptions! always my fault as well!

I would definitely start them.

Honestly, if you do training that affects WR and QB groups every week (beat cover 3, for example, is a good one because the computer runs lots of cover 3), and you focus training on both of them, then you'll get a lot of XP every week just from training. Make sure your coach has the QB and WR training packages, and you'll get over 1000 XP per week (on standard XP settings) just from training. It'll only take a few weeks for your QB's overall to be high enough that you want to start him, so might as well start him now.

The choice of nomenclature in the original explanation (kindly brought here by the OPbut not written by him) is unfortunate, and potentially confusing. The skills are usually called Physical and Intangible. Traits are something completely different: Development, Clutch, Aggressive Catch, etc.

I just hope in Madden 18 they can fix a few small things with this topic and it will make a world of difference.

I would love to get paid to find out this information for them lol. But make it something like this for the draft:

.005 probability of age of 20
.4 probability of age of 21
.45 probability of age of 22
.105 probability of age of 23
.04 probability of age of 24

Up the progression curve for QBs, TEs, OL, DTs, and ILBs to 27. Maybe 28 for QBs

Make Regression dependent on position:

QB = 34 (minor regression at 32 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc, -1 throw pow)
HB = 30
FB = 30
WR = 31 (minor regression at 29 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc, -1 jump)
TE = 31 (minor regression at 29 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc, -1 jump)
OL = 32 (minor regression at 29 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc)
DT = 32 (minor regression at 29 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc)
DE/OLB = 31 (minor regression at 29 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc)
MLB = 31 (minor regression at 29 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc)
CB = 31 (minor regression at 29 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc)
S = 31 (minor regression at 29 of -1 spd, -1 agi, -1 acc)

Fix the Heisman. Far too often a defensive player wins. Make it a probability of something like this:
18% top QB wins
15% 2nd QB
8% 3rd QB
5% 4th QB
3% 5th QB
10% 1st RB
8% 2nd RB
8% 3rd RB
3% 4th RB
3% 5th RB
5% 1st WR
3% 2nd WR
3% 3rd WR
2% 1st TE
1% 2nd TE
.25% 1st DE
.25% 1st DT
.25% 1st ROLB
.25% 1st MLB
.25% 1st LOLB
1% 1st CB
.25% 2nd CB
1% 1st FS
.25% 2nd FS
1% 1st SS
.25% 2nd SS
