46 Defense Scheme?

I'm not sure the 46 was ever a viable defense. Buddy Ryan just had an absurdly talented defense.

3 HOFrs (Singletary, Hampton, Dent) and 5 guys that were All-Pros in the 80s (Fencik, Duerson, Marshall, Wilson, McMichael)

Other than the 60s Packers and 70s Steelers, I can't name a team that can compete with that.

When I control Seattle, I like to use the 46 playbook because Seattle has tendencies to line up that way on most 1st & 2nd downs. Kam Chancellor creeps into the box, and it leaves Cover 1 or Cover 3 tops, with zone or man under.

I don't have a problem with using it, and I honestly love it with Seattle or New England's D, although if you don't have a speedy D it can definitely cause you some headaches.

As an early down run defense I think it could have a place in this game. As Joey stated, it's just and 8 man box which isn't unheard of in the NFL, just look at the Seahawks who usually walk down KC close to the line. Not as close as the 46 Bear does, but the idea is similar. The difference being that you are more susceptible to outside runs to the right if your Strongside defenders can't hold the edge.

If you're wanting to walk down the safety, hit Y (triangle) and show blitz.. Brings your safety up and still disguises your coverage
