Is PSN necessary to download commentary/roster updates???

I don't have a subscription to PSN. You didn't need it in Madden 16 unless you were planning on starting an online franchise mode. I'm trying to update my rosters and commentary yet it doesn't let me sign into the EA servers. Are the servers down or is a PSN subscription required?

No u don't need PS+ for rosters and commentary ...its down right now to being hacked ...don't know how long it will be down.
