Backups request way too much money in CFM?

Was wondering if everyone else is experiencing this. For instance, I have a 3rd string(74) TE making 600k asking for 2.5 mil for new contract. It's not a big deal since I could just sign another one in free agency for what he was making before. But it's just not realistic to constantly rotate through backup players because they ask for a huge raise for no reason.

I have noticed every player wants a lot of money in free agency. I have 12 free agents this year and am resigning none of them. Can't afford the good players and won't overpay for mediocre ones. I have a better chance of letting them become free agents and then resigning them. This year's process of retaining players needs some work.

If they're the dime-a-dozen type of players, just call their bluff and wait them out. After year 2 of my Chiefs CFM, Spencer Ware (77 OVR HB) wanted like $7 mil over three years when he's not even the feature back. Granted he plays a big part, but that's not financially wise. Anyways, I let him go to Free Agency and no one offered him. I then snatched him up on a 1-year $2 mil. contract. It's annoying in some ways, but I'd recommend doing that.

I'd like to point out that veteran backups asking for reasonably large amounts of money relative to their ability level isn't unreasonable.

Some recent signings the Cowboys have made for role players:

TE James Hanna - 3-yr $8.25M ($2.5M bonus)
DE/LB Kyle Wilber - 2-yr $3.25M ($1M bonus)
WR Cole Beasley - 4-yr $13.6M ($3.4M bonus)
S Jeff Heath - 4-yr $7.6M ($1.8M bonus)
S Barry Church - 4-yr $8.8M ($2.5M bonus) (signed before he became a starter)

7 mil over three years for a reasonable backup is a bargain.

I didn't clarify.. that was per year with bonus included. I eventually signed him at about 30% of his asking price by waiting him out.

I think it is more of a change of culture within Madden. They simply used to be too cheap, they are now closer to asking for real contracts it seems.

I like having to let a lot of players test free agency because they want too much money, seeing if they or I are right about their value on the open market.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
