how do you catch?

this is a goofy question, but say im throwing into tight coverage, when should I press x, is it x or what have you to hold on to the ball better, im trying to not get so many drop balls

there are a lot of dropped passes in M17.

They have a pretty good tutorial on it, but x is to do a possession catch. And then holding R1 makes them hold onto it tighter so it's not dropped or stripped away as easily

when do you hold R1? during the catch, or after it?

From my experience if you are in tight coverage and the pass has a low trajectory (i.e. nobody is going to be jumping to get to it) you want to use X. If it's tight coverage and a jump ball you want to use triangle. Neither has a great successs rate which is a good thing.

I agree you shouldn't get all balls, but some are sure grabs and the cpu knocks em out of your hands while its hard to make the ball pop out the cpus hands
