Hi all,
First time poster but long time reader of this thread.
Big thanks to Old Man Nathy and everyone who has contributed to this process.
I'm currently playing a franchise using the "firesale" model. Got rid of everyone talented and have a lot of picks.
The first year was a success, basically scored my franchise QB, OL, shutdown corner and 2 elite WR (although 1 WR was a 7th round fluke).
I didn't cap but this was the breakdown of the last draft:
1 6 LT Bently 76 Normal
7 CB Levine 81 SuperStar
26 WR Drkwa 76 Normal
32 QB Balogh 72 Superstar
2 21 RG Peck 73 Quick
22 C Dillard 75 Quick
3 13 HB Streeter 68 Normal
14 FS Kirksey 71 Normal
4 9 MLB Shehee 77 Quick
26 RG Shivers 75 Normal
5 9 QB Faine 72 Quick
13 ROLBMcMillan 68 Normal
6 29 CB Cummings 64 Normal
7 29 WR Chase 68 Normal
This year I have the bulk of my picks. However, the draft class is not great.
I have some decisions I'd like to get opinions on, if anyone cares to chime in.
1. I'm planning on drafting a MLB to play in a 3-4 D. I currently have a Balanced MLB and need his offsider.
There are 2 very good MLB in the draft class, and it's splitting hairs between them. I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts as to which might be the way to go.
Quincy Kitchens (Balanced)
PR: 1M
TR: 1M
Age: 23
Hit Power A-
Tackle B+
Pursuit B+
40: 4.65
VJ: 34.4
3 Cone: 7.01
Shuttle: 4.22
Bench: 24
TVR: 92.13
Josh Lassiter (Protoype)
PR: 1E
TR: 1E
Age: 22
Tackle B+
Block Shedding: B
Hit Power: B
40: 4.72
VJ: 35.4
3 Cone: 6.97
Shuttle: 4.23
Bench: 30
TVR:90.56
My thinking is while Kitchens has a higher TVR (just), is faster and better grades, Lassiter is younger, a prototype (vs balanced which I have), high block shedding and is stronger. Not to mention a better combine grade and higher talent round. Either way I'll be spending an early round 1 pick so just want to try and nail it best I can.
2. With the SS criteria, is it generous or conservative? I need a SS and my best bet is looking like grabbing a 94TVR FS and playing at SS. There are no draftable SS in the class. The reason I ask is the final grade for all is always a "C" whereas C+ is required to be draftable. If you list them as CB they become draftable.
The best SS is the Heisman winner. He is undraftable, however if you were to improve his C tackle to C+ he jumps to a 91TVR and #12 in the class.
I don't think I'd spend the pick on him just to find out as it's looking at 1E but curious for future drafts.
3. Has anyone come across the "looking at playing baseball" draft story? Does it have any impact? From day one of scouting the #1 player has been an absolute stud QB. Now he has fallen to 3rd Round projection due to baseball interest. I'm set at QB but would be hard to turn down with surplus of picks if he's sitting there in round 3.
Thanks for any and all input and apologies for the wall of text.
