How do you determine total play count?

Stupid question I'm sure, but wanted to see if maybe I'm missing an easy way.

How does everyone determine total plays for each team? Do you simply add the amount of passing/rushing attempts? Is it hidden somewhere in the team stats?

I've always just added all attempts for rushing and passing, but that doesn't necessarily factor in kick returns or sacks etc.

Pass Attempts + Sacks + Rushing Attempts is how I've always done it but you could always include Kickoff's and special teams plays to get a true total plays stat.

But now you guys are making me realize I've never included kicks/punts.... should I be including kicks/punts?

You don't count kicks. Just runs and pass attempts including sacks. This year the leader so far in total plays are the Cardinals with 70 per game while the Dolphins are lowest at 57.The average is about 64.

Ok, cool thanks. I've always gone for accelerated clock and quarter settings that give me 125 plays on average. So if the real average is 128 I was close, lol.

(For me it happens to be 14 min Q's and 20 seconds accelerated clock, offline CFM)

Thanks for the replies guys. I was close just wasn't factoring in the sacks . I've been using Josh's sliders where he uses 9 min no acc clock, however I don't think it was ever getting me to the 120 play mark.

I may give 12 min 20 runoff a try. Wish we had a large databank of quarter settings and resulting total plays. Or better yet just a total play number in the final team stats.

I usually roll with 12 minutes+acc clock. It usually gets me just under the average. But doing the real average doesn't quite work on Madden, in my experience. What I meanis, hitting 55 plays per game per team feels more like a real NFL game than 60-65, simply because the mechanics and AI of Madden isn't quite right.
