Madden 18 - More Drama/Suspense needed around Injuries, Playbook Affected
For Madden 18 ...more drama and suspense surrounding injuries is needed. To me that is a HUGE component missing from Madden and it hinders any attempt at tv broadcast realism, especially in regards to presentation.
I suggest they add varying degrees to the drama surrounding in-game injuries based:
1) on the severity of the injury itself...does the guy need help getting off the field or does he walk off on his own power?...did they bring out a cart? air cast or no? and
2) on who the player is...is it an undrafted rookie on special teams ....or is it your perennial all-pro middle linebacker?
From a commentary/presentation standpoint, there needs to be updates throughout the game...discussion on how the loss of the player impacts the game, possibly the gameplan itself, etc. Does this player have an extensive injury history? Wasn't put on IR last season? Perhaps some live twitter reaction from media and other players around the league could be added.
In terms of gameplay, what if a key player dramatically altered your playbook and/or making certain plays completely unavailable due to the replacement player's lack of experience, reps during the week and/or ability?
Animation-wise, how about real-time injuries to go along with the real-time physics? (credit: RyanMoody21):
NOTE: I'm not suggesting that injuries be prioritized over other obviously more important aspects of game.
