Help stopping Browns Run Playbook
Need some help from you experts! I play in the championship game in my user league and know the guy runs with the Browns playbook. He gets about 300+ yards a game. How do I stop him??

In short limit turnovers, win the T.O.P. because limiting his offensive snaps limits his opportunities to move the ball.
Keep plays in front of the defense, avoid Cover 0, 1 especially if he likes stretch runs or tosses as you'll have committed your 2nd level to gaps and no one is there to stop the edge runs. Better to call 44/46 and spread the LB's to help contain the outside runs in Cov 3.The Impact of User vs User Sliders In CFM 5.0*

We can't offer advice if we don't know what he's doing, most guys will need more information to offer advice.

I know he likes to run the Wildcat and also the Power O, Stretch, Toss. Very seldom does he run up the middle. Usually tries to get it outside so that info is good. The run that kills me is the Wildcat Jet Sweep. I started running CB Blitz to the side I thought he was running to but then he started throwing to that side.Follow me on https://twitter.com/ for NFL Draft and football news. @MackDraftComment

Re: Help stopping Browns Run Playbook
The best way to play defense is gap sound. Blitzing CBs like you stated is a good way to get torched once he knows that's what you're going to do.
I would say go with a Cover 3 and then make sure your SS is the safety who is supposed to walk down into the box, then physically move him closer to the line of scrimmage but outside the tackle box a little so he doesn't get caught up in traffic. You can user him or let him be.Comment

Re: Help stopping Browns Run Playbook
if you think it is a strech or a toss, i also , as an added bonus, like to run a nickel or dime play witth 4 DL, and the DE on the strong side i like to put out in the flat ( light blue) zone persnap. That way , as soon as its snapped, he is basically trying to get outside and helps give extra defender to try to push him inside, or make him go far enough around outside , to give time for others to come cover him up.
But this is only a tactic i like to use when im playing someone who just wants to mainly run tosses , sweeps ,and stretch plays for all , or almost all their run plays.Normally shuts em down good enough they gotta come up with something else.Comment

Re: Help stopping Browns Run Playbook
Cover 2 or cover 3, shade the coverage underneath, and call QB contain. And make sure you are using formations with a 4-man line, no 3-4, 2-4-5 or 3-3-5 nickels, etc.Comment
