You know that's a good point, rewards can often be better than punishment.

How about instead of focusing directly on MUT that instead you give out points to people who finish, like 1,000, even if they lose. Then they can use those points to buy items anywhere in the game.

And if you finish and win you get like 4,000 points. You quit a game and you get 0.

Heck, even make it if you are losing and you offer to concede to the other guy and quit amicably you get 500 points..

Using this method it would reward people who stay. Or at least quit in the right way.

Sure people would still quit but I think it'd encourage more people to stay in it, especially if they get closer to the end.

Perhaps using this (carrot) with the "can't play again for 5 minutes, then 30 minutes, then 2 hours" etc (stick) would help a lot.

I don't either, I play online CFM exclusively, and in most the leagues I'm in quitting is an automatic removal.

You can always start your own group/community and police yourselves. Quitters get tossed.

That usually works when a game comes out as people are playing it that you know but not when it has been out awhile. Not many friends I know of right now are playing madden and the chances of them happening to be on when I'm ready to start a game are infinitely small.

I've always been a big advocate of escalating probation for quitters. There's nothing that will completely deter or stop them from quitting but punishing them for doing so will at least give a lot of people pause before doing so, especially if they play the game regularly. I also agree with what howboutdat said in regards to matchmaking. Once a player's DNF% reaches a certain point start matching them only with other players that also quit often until they start finishing full games.

Here's another idea. Implement a peer rating system similar to what The Show had a while back. After each game you will be prompted to give your opponent a thumbs up or thumbs down. This would also tie into matchmaking. So if you only wish to play opponents who have a rating of 75% or higher you can specify that. This would also promote fair play. So in theory the higher your rating is the less cheesy you are. Yes, their will be kids that give thumbs down ratings just because they lost, but I feel it would even out with the cleanest non Youtubers having the highest ratings.

Matchmaking by DNF% would be a good start, although to be honest quitters have never bothered me. I take my win and move on.

If you quit a certain # of times in a certain time frame, you get temporarily banned from online play. The more it happens, the more bans you get.
