Frankly, it's not possible to overhaul these things in a year. It's always going to be incremental in annual releases. Madden has tried to do massive 1-year overhauls twice. One was Madden '07, and that was a disaster.

Madden '13 overhauled Franchise, and that's more complicated, but it wasn't great. Product of good engineering and bad design.
