To be honest, the offline component of franchise is in better shape than online in my opinion. At least in offline, a user can (with some aggravation admittedly) apply 32-team control and fix AI ridiculousness.

In a 3-5 person online franchise, even as a head commissioner I can't make simple overrides to fix the stupid moves the AI makes.

Everything that is implemented is all user, user, user with hardly any regard taken for AI. GamePlanning for instance, tracks play call data for the user and was completely static (and completely wrong) for any CPU team for the entirety of the franchise. As far as I can tell the CPU will never make the "Big Decision" to bring back a player early from an injury. Other areas that have a greater impact on the single player experience but would still greatly benefit smaller online leagues like draft logic, trade logic and overall AI roster management continue to be absolutely horrendous.

I should have worded it differently. If you're a solo user looking to have a free-for-all within your franchise and be able to do anything you want, I'm sure it's a fantastic single player experience. If you're looking for something resembling conscious AI and realism and aren't prepared to employ a catalog of house rules and devote a significant amount of time to 32-team control, you're gonna have a bad time.

I'd be curious to know the age range of posters here, and how many Maddens you've purchased/played.

There was a time 32-team control wasn't necessary.

There was a time franchise sim stats were accurate.

There was a time franchise mode was engrossing. Possibly beacuse of its newness, but engrossing nevertheless.

I understand very well the issues that arose with the last console cycle. The economy wasn't the best either. But at those are just hollow excuses to me right now.

If you read the board from 10 years ago, then come back to this, or the other threads from the past few days, you're going to find people asking for many of the same things.

How crazy is that? Honestly?!
