Why does my RB come to a complete stop?

I cannot count how many times I have been running parallel to the line of scrimmage, or even slightly backwards, to gain the edge on a pitch when the unthinkable happens. Right before I turn up-field, my RB starts slowing down until he comes to a complete stop a couple of seconds later. He will not move no matter how much I wish he would, and he is tackled a few seconds later by all of the defensive players who I had been outrunning. It does not happen every time, but it happens enough that I am scared to call a pitch. It even happened a few days ago on a stretch play for the first time. This problem has happened over multiple seasons with a few different running backs

Does anyone know what is happening and how it can be prevented?

I would argue this is sort of a legacy issue. They fixed a lot of legacy issues this year. Hopefully, this is one of them. I think I've seen what u r describing. There are certain times when the animation hurts u. You're trying to make a smooth transition from running parallel to LOS to running upfield. U r probably trying to 'round' the turn, but the game makes u plant and turn, and is the slowest animation EVER! Lol. That's been my experience, anyways. Sometimes, when trying to smoothly round a turn upfield, the game just gets it wrong. Again, maybe this was considered a legacy issue and is fixed. Overall, everyone is saying the animations are better and smoother in general in M18, so one can hope.

my hbs have done this in coach mode, and the last time im was not even holding the controller as i was eating strawberries & ice cream!

the hb in question was a 91 ovr speed back with 99 awr 93 bcv and unfatigued

It is possible that I could sometimes press L3 while running. I am not sure. I have tried to recreate this slowdown in practice mode with no success. What would L3 do anyway? I checked my controller settings, and it does not say that L3 is supposed to do anything while you are the ball carrier.
