Re: Madden NFL 18 Interview with Clint Oldenburg (PX1Sports)

-theres lots of new improvements to blocking, mainly the ID the MIKE feature. compared it to a spotlight feature

- screen plays are improved, blocking especially, they fixed a bug from last years game.

- wanted to focus on offensive playbooks and give them variety and identity. didnt want to see esports players all running the same plays. new run plays this year.

- cant stop the run very well with dime, quarters, prevent etc anymore. very noticeable effect "will see a lot of guys on the ground" mentioned pancakes

- kick meter works the same way, the interface was changed to make it more clear what to do. they liked the way it was last year but didnt like that lag online that made it unusable. they made the meter easier this year "by 10%". simulation mode is differently balanced though. arcade mode you will never miss.

- best in class visuals, sideline interactions, stadiums, coach interactions, grass, game looks different and better. fireworks. using frostbite lets the team work together with battlefield team to fix problems cause they use the same engine now.

- a display showing the wind speed and direction at the playcall screen probably wont make it in this year, wants to get it in though

I'm very excited about the game play updates they have made. Can't wait to get my hands on this game. New offensive plays will certainly be a welcomed addition as well.

Let's hope that ratings counts it matter this year. From what I hear, it does.

Wait and see mode.

Yeah, I'm thinking that based on what he said, perhaps, they've given an extra boost to double team blocking, maybe? Something in the code that says, '2 big, hairy Oline man vs 1 Dlineman = u on the turf!' That would pretty much do it right there. If they only rush 2, the Oline should double team, pancake, AND get 1-2 blocks in the second level. That would help stomp out those D calls. Lol.

I hate when they say "ratings will matter this year." Ummm.... what the heck did the ratings mean the past 27 years!?

First time in 27 years I hear it, I'll take it if true.

(I'm sure some will dig into google to show some blog in some year they claimed ratings matter. lol I'll just say I don't recall, but at least it's being emphasised in interviews and impressions. Ratings better matter for sim mode)
