But it sounds like Clint is saying that ratings don't have any effect in target passing which is the same as saying ratings don't work in SIM mode (at least for target passing). I obliviously have had no time with the game but a large part of being sim for me is the separation of players abilities. Especially at the QB position. I guess it'll be a wait and see just how impactful this is.

If they don't make it to where ratings matter when using target passing at least for the sim game style then I will not be using it.

It shouldn't even be an option in simulation play because that sounds like arcade

I've been saying for some time now that as important as the quarterback is, Madden needed to add something a little more complex to the mechanic. I'm completely fine with target passing being in sim(even a little excited) it just needs to have ratings as part of the equation.

It's not an "auto" activated feature at the snap, it's user initiated.
When activated, it's no where near as easy as you may be thinking (there will be some complaining that it's too hard/broke/bugged etc..., I promise you)

Throwing pinpoint location off back foot, across body, with def in face and other garbage like this, is definetly over.

TP is definetly not a pick up-n-play mechanism!!!
Gamers that don't put the lab time in will take T. Brady and end up playing like J. Russell.

2nd is if not activated by the user, the old mechanic (ratings) are still in play, just not when TP is activated.

But with Coverages being tuned tighter, you're almost going to have to transition to using TP to be successful in the Passing Game with smaller "windows" to work with.

We've been asking for "Simulation", now the user will have the option of being in total control of their passing. (Training wheels have been removed!!!)

I expect the slider guru's to get a lot of request for slider help in this area. lol

Yep.

I don't really understand what people were expecting out of this. It's a mechanic that allows you to place the ball wherever you, the user, want to. How was that ever going to be done in a way that could be considered "sim"?

Make the target controls move faster/slower based on ratings to cause an interface screw that artificially affects the difficulty of passing? No thanks.

Or if you make it have an "error radius" that you can miss your spot by randomly depending on a QB's ratings, then you're not really doing anything different from the "normal" passing mode. You'd still have a good portion of the crowd playing this game complaining that the game was deciding its own outcomes.

I'm legitimately curious - how would you guys want this done in a "sim" way that still allows you to have full user control over the throw?

I think we need to look further down the road. What happens when it is learned and is a viable mechanic to use. Picture going into a playoff game and your opponent is using a third string quarterback and he's hitting on all his TP throws.

I agree that if this is as it sounds, people who put in the time will be able to master this and generate some very unrealistic outcomes. That's the nature of putting more control in the hands of the user.

It will take time for people to learn, but it will happen eventually.
