Thanks, I saw that post, too. Good to know, but still not acceptable. The fact this apparently works like it used to on Pro says to me this was done on purpose. That sucks. For what it's worth, I added this to the Bugs thread, hoping someone out there will change this in a future patch. For now, I'll stick with M17 and bide my time.

Re: Madden 18 Official Coach Mode Discussion

I don't think I've ever played this game on anything less than All-Madden -- dating back to the mid-90's -- but if playing on Pro is the only way to get that 'Coach Mode' feel, then Pro difficulty it is.

Does anyone know what the differences are between the difficulties -- I'm talking about under the hood stuff -- like, ratings boosts or 'cheats' for the User/CPU???

I'm in Practice Mode right now messing around on Pro and since all I do is call plays it doesn't feel any different than All Madden so far.

I'm also a big Coach Mode guy and was initially disappointed at the "user highlighted player on D only responds to user input"

But I did notice that if you hold L1 after the snap, the player will run his assignment (man, zone, etc). Unfortunately, you do have to hold L1 for the entire play and it would have to be done every play but at least you don't have to worry about stick skills.

If I am using a CB or a Safety, will they go after the ball too while holding L1? Like try to intercept it or swat it down?

Scratch that...

I started an actual game on Pro and it's like the CPU isn't even trying to win.

So that's a no-go.

Back to All-Madden for me...

I tried this on All-Madden and it didn't work...then I switched to All-Pro and it worked as you described.

I'm starting to think this 'feature' was changed on purpose to affect head-to-head gamers & our version of 'Coach Mode' was sacrificed in the process.

Hope I'm wrong and this is 'fixed' in an update...but EA may feel that everything is "working as intended".

Re: Madden 18 Official Coach Mode Discussion

Just firing it up and putting my settings in. Gonna start on Pro/Simulation. I’m SO glad you’re not forced to play out a game situation on first boot in M18. That annoyed the crap out of me because I’d often download, play, get bored and delete M17 and have to redo that situation each time. Lol
