Best Madden of All Time?

Having played and returned Madden 18 this year for basically being terrible (not much better than 17 with tons of legacy issues playing against the AI), it made me wonder what is the best Madden of all time. I've been playing on and off for years (since 93 on the Genesis) and I'm still convinced that Madden 05-06 where the best IMO. The Xbox 360 games were plagued by frame rate issues and new engine issues until about 10-11 which were good but still felt to scripted. The Xbox one games have been ok (only played 25 and 17 but with patches they were ok but still felt really scripted).

So what Madden do you think was the best and why?

I also thing that NFL2k5 has not been topped in a few ways especially in coaching VIP and presentation (so many camera angles and animations that it picked up).

Well I thought Madden 08 was probably the best but it's because of the mods you can get on PC for it. Out of the box? Madden 05. Madden 12 was pretty good also.

I'd also like to know what others think.

I used JoshC's sliders for Madden 25 and played 8 full seasons and really, really enjoyed the game. I cannot really remember other years being better, though I am certain they were.

Madden 10 for the PS2. Superstar Mode. Franchise. This game had it all. Still think 2K >> Madden, but 10 was the GOAT imo

I liked where 07 was going with the player roles, but then I switched to the 360 version so I never really got that far with ps2 version. It's a toss up between 05 and 06 for me, I played those two versions the most

Madden 10 like big said. I could also put all the hall of fame legends into the free agent pool right out of the box. No paying, no virtual currencies, NFL Films Sam Spence soundtrack, solid gameplay, AFL retro mode, awesome mini games and solid AI on both sides. Madden 11 honorable mention. The last year I heard Maddens voice and Sam Spence soundtrack. 12 was great too.

For its time, Madden 05/06 is very hard to beat.

Madden 18 is by far the best Madden so far, IMO. Shading seems to work this year, the graphics and lighting are much better. "ID the Mike" is awesome.

There is still some warping and of course the coverage, both M2M and zone, has some early issues that hopefully will be fixed in the Sept patch; some legacy issues which may not ever be resolved without just overhauling the whole code, still overall the best game.
