    Problems rushing!

I am having so many issues rushing in Madden 18. I'm a vet of the game series who's taken a number of years off, and even with HUMAN blocking at 70 (on all madden) I find the line collapses a lot. I still manage decent yards per carry, but on the goal line or inside the opponent 5, every time I hand off it's literally like the other team is in my back field as I'm already handing off.

Help a vet who took time off learn to run in this new gen!

(not having a lot of issues anywhere else in game, kicking throwing D etc)

I found it extremely hard to run the ball this year and passing is even worse, way too many interceptions. Also if you play 1P VS 2P the sliders you made in the options menu only work on one controller while the other controller has default sliders. Wish they would finally fix this and bring back the rewind button.

There is one person here (Charter04) who makes a slider set for All-Madden, and I believe he has Human Run Blocking all the way up to 90.

You should check his sliders out.

Having no issues running the ball over here. Admittedly I play as strong running teams (Cowboys and Titans). You have to know how your blocks are setting up this year on a per-concept basis, and you have to follow your blocks. The days of just sprinting to the outside to run the ball are by-and-large over.

Two things I have found helpful in specific to M18: I now use the higher-angle camera during run plays, which is two steps back from the default and one further back from the "classic" Madden camera. This helps me see how blocks are developing downfield easier. I'm also sprinting behind the line of scrimmage far less, especially on outside zone run plays which are the bread and butter of my rushing offense.

Cm Hooe is correct in knowing how your blocking set's up o your plays. And don't hit sprint right away and follow your blocks. I play with the rams online currently 13-5 and run all over my opponent's. Are you having issues in h2h or vs the cpu?

Excellent advice - I would like to add - play around with ID the Mike.. It can turn a poor run play into a good play. This includes also ID'ing a DL player, so just don't focus on a LB.

On sweep i'll even ID a CB.

I stay away from the sprint button all together until I'm in to the secondary, otherwise the second I hit it no matter how big the hole is guys come off blocks and tackle me

If you sprint behind the line of scrimmage the defenders will instashed blocks and tackle you every time.

                  Re: Problems rushing!

If anything I think it's easier to run this year than it's ever been but here are some tips that could help you:

                  1. If you don't already know, learn what the running plays and general terms actually mean so you have some understanding of what type of play it is and what the lineman are supposed to do on that play.

                  2. Don't try to just run outside every time. There are specific runs designed to be run outside use those when you want to because those will give you an extra tight end, a WR in motion or a pulling guard to block for you.

                  3. Before the snap look at the play art and see which gap the play is supposed to go to.

                  4. Immediately after the snap look for a running lane. It's not too unfamiliar with reading QB progressions after the snap you just have less time. Shoot for the gap the play is designed to go to, if it is jammed then you can try the next gap. But most of the time if you stick to the correct gap you can get positive yardage.

                  5. Don't immediately use the sprint button when the ball is snapped. I always wait till I am past the line of scrimmage before turning on the jets.

                  6. Learn how to effectively use the juke, stiff arm and spin moves. Free practice is an excellent place to practice this.

                  7. Choose running plays that fit your offensive makeup.

                    Re: Problems rushing!

As some have said don't use sprint right away, I also don't even start moving the LS until 2 seconds after the RB gets the ball. This allows time for blocks to actually set up before you decide what hole your gonna explode through

I play with the Broncos and average 120+ yards a game on the ground. I play all pro with user run block at 45.

You honestly just have to watch for the holes and hit it. I also find it easier to run with one-cut backs versus any other type.

Block shedding hasn't increased dramatically since the patch. If you put it on cpu v cpu you'll see the cpu can't run against themselves.

I agree with the OP. Far too often my o-line gets blown up and either completely miss defenders when they go to block them or get knocked on their backs by the time I am getting the ball handed off. This was occurring with a line that had no one rated lower than 88 overall with run blocking no lower than 90 for any of them. Especially in goalline situations. No amount of block reading or avoiding sprint button can be done in those situations and it happens far too often. Even against low rated defenders it happens.

I'm playing online CFM on All-Pro with default sliders.

Goal line runs are suicide. The only one that works for me RARELY is a goal line toss. This needs to be fixed.

Run game in general is good. All previous advice in thread is spot on.

FB and lead blockers often leave you hung out to dry on perfectly set up plays.

Your CPU OL blocks best in single back dive or zone plays. Shotgun runs work well too.

Remember: don't hit the kill-me-now button, and don't use a FB.

With a fullback, you need one with a very high run block or he will be destroyed on every play. My drafted FB with an 81 RB has some success in picking up LB's especially on runs outside.
