RB Lining Up As WR in 4 WR Sets

Why does my RB line up as a 4th WR in 4 WR sets?
This is not the result of an audible or fatigue.
In the depth chart, it looks correct. Meaning the first five WR's listed in the depth chart are actually my WRs.
Is this a known bug? Is there a fix?

Thanks!

It's not a 4WR set if the HB lines up out there. The slot is intended to be a HB.

Certain playbook have default formations that split the RB out wide. Try going into formations and using the RS to set the formation to "4 wide"

I know the steelers have an empty set where bell lines up out wide. Its by design, the game has very few 4 wr sets. If you see a 4 wide look it usually includes a te and sometimes a running back. If you go to edit playbook and look at the audibles screen it will tell you what the personnel is for each set.

When you're selecting plays out of shotgun, look at the player numbers on the guys. Sometimes they'll have your HB on the outside or in the slot. All about formations. Plenty of teams do this, like Steelers, Carolina, Eagles, etc. in real life. There's also shotgun formations with 2/3 tight ends out wide or certain receivers in the slot instead of out wide. It's very realistic, not a bug.

Blame the real-life NFL wrt Tiburon building the playbooks to send RBs out wide, as that is what teams are doing in real life.

Teams in total lined up in 11 personnel 60% of the time in 2016, as opposed to 3% and 1% respectively in 10 and 00 personnel groups, per Sharp Football Stats. The Giants in particular lined up in 11 personnel on 92% of their snaps in 2016.

Thank you SolidSquid and others. I'm aware of the way the real NFL can lineup like that, but too many of the deep pass plays in the Bucs default playbook have RB lined up going deep, so it seems.

I was selecting plays from "play type", but will possibly (bc it takes too long) use "formations" to select and sub on my own.

Re: RB Lining Up As WR in 4 WR Sets

Many times on Madden 17 while using the Falcons I'd have the RB lined up as the outside receiver. One time,on 4th down, I just picked the shotgun play where the RB lines up to the left of the AN and runs a deep route along the sideline and I took the CPU by surprise and scored a late game winning td. It's great for stretching the defense.
