Re: Madden 18 and HDR

Honestly, once I stopped obsessing over the fact that it was much less bright than normal, I thin the HDR in Madden 18 looks great. HDR is supposed to make things look better, more defined, without the need for so much brightness. That's why local dimming is important. It brightens the areas that need it.

Shows like Iron Fist, and now Mindhunter, are also darker when viewed in HDR. We bounce back and forth on Netflix because my wife tends to load Netflix using our Tivo, which is not 4K, let alone HDR. I try to start Netflix up using my One S, so the shows in 4K and HDR are shown that way.

I do not boost the brightness or contrast within the game. That absolutely blows out the color, and you lose definition. Those will make the game brighter, but you lose the entire point of HDR.

Re: Madden 18 and HDR

Guys a technical question across the board with HDR... I have a lower base Samsung HDR 4K tv and with HDR+ mode on I get lots of lag on certain games.... the gaming mode plays much better... my question is in gaming mode I will not see HDR correct?

Don't use HDR+....period. It's not HDR and is awful. Use game mode and the tv's actual HDR mode which is actually called UHD color, not HDR and can be found in the expert picture settings. Be sure that is enabled for the port your console is hooked up to..
