Another thing I’d like to add:

The man-coverage bug. No matter how good your CB’s ratings are, there’s a little hitch in their strafe as soon as the ball is snapped, sometimes. It’s annoying, not exactly game breaking, but it shouldn’t be in the game. I’ve boosted Play Recognition countless times and it still happens.

Exactly. There’s no “Madden taking a year off” world because the NFL is far too greedy when it comes to the game. They don’t care about realism, consumer happiness. All the shield cares about is a product; whether it’s good or not is beyond their concern.

Re: Madden 19 Wishlist

1)I’d like to see playbooks made more intuitive and realistic, especially custom playbooks.
Instead of having to search out individual plays by paging through, when building a playbook, have the interface be able to pick a concept (say Drive for example) and add that play in 7-8 formations instantly, then add the “tags” you want to be able to run out of drive (for example, be able to tag the HB to run a wheel, the shallow cross player to run his route behind the line of scrimmage, the shallow cross player to not motion pre-snap, make the backside receiver run a different route, etc)
Then, when choosing plays in-game, you pick the concept, the formation, and add the tags.
This is not the same as using “choose plays by concept” in the current interface. Building playbooks and choosing plays in-game with the current interface is slower and more tedious than it needs to be.

2) Having a Sim, Arcade, and Competitive slider is a step in the right direction, but the devs have not taken Sim mode to where it should be. Penalties are way low at default settings, and in Sim Mode, the aim should be to have results that mirror NFL results on a PER PLAY basis, not on a per game basis with 6 minute quarters.
IOW, having league average total offense per game in a Madden game that only featured 50 total plays from scrimmage is not Sim.
It should take 125 total plays from scrimmage to reach NFL average per game numbers.
Also, Sim mode should not be patched or tuned post-release due to players complaining on Twitter about getting sacked too much or throwing too many interceptions.
SIM mode should only be tuned to match SOUND NFL per play metrics after getting user meta data (SOUND metrics is the operative word here).
If the devs want to pander to players complaining about the game being too challenging or realistic, do it in Arcade or maybe Competitive mode. Sim mode should be just that: A simulation of NFL football.

2. Assistant Coaches/ Coaching Pool- Real assistant coaches and a coaching pool where you can hire coaches all season long.

3. Stat/ Award Tracking- This is Madden 18, and it is even capable of remembering who won the Super Bowl the year prior. Every coach, player, and team should have their Super Bowls and Awards follow them forever.

4. CPU vs CPU- I shouldn't have to take control of an entire team in order to just play a game for a team I don't control.

5. More User Control- With the inability to get resignings, the draft, and free agency right, I would like to see Madden allow us to control what other teams do. That way I can prevent Drew Brees from signing with the Eagles, Rams, or whoever has a starting QB. Even prevent teams from drafting a QB year after year in the first round.

6. Living Worlds- Weather that affects the way players play, stadiums that shake your controller, teams rushing the field for game winning field goals, injured players on the sideline with slings and boots, rivalries that change in intensity over time based on big games and outcomes, players that let experiences affect their signing (like if a player on the Packers has a falling out would then sign with the Vikings.
#1 on that list is something I really want. I haven't been impressed with Madden lately so have been waiting for Franchise Mode to get some work done on it, but creating draft classes (with sliders) would get me to buy.

Also, I would like more customization and be able to pretty much Create your Own League, like MyLeague in NBA 2K where you can create teams/logos, add/replace teams, re-align conferences and more.

Re: Madden 19 Wishlist

My biggest wish:

Widen the Field about 2 yards on each side. One of the biggest issues I have with Madden 18 and previous now thinking about it is the field is just not wide enough. This to me is evident when you try to use Passing concepts that should work against certain coverages but they don't because the spacing is too tight. Let me provide an example.

Cover 3 Sky. You have a Curl/Flat defender on both sides. What are some ways to attack this:

1.) Curl/Flat

This Concept should give you decent yards vs Cover 3 Sky but they don't and often times you end up throwing an INT or taking a sack because the Curl/Flat defender does not have to show his hand immediately. He can drift with the flat and then drop back on the Curl. If the field were wider he'd have to show his hand immediately. Either jump the flat or sink to the curl. In your movement, you can't show both. If the field were wider once you show the one you'd get beat on the other route.

2.) Slant/Flat

Same thing with this one. You have one WR running the flat route and the other one on the slant. You either jump the flat and leave the window for the slant or you stay on the slant and give up the flat. You can't cover both, but in this game defenders CAN. You can do this in practice and watch how the curl/flat defender will immediately widen for the flat but once that slant drops behind him and you throw it he'll immediately move back inside for the slant and either pick it or swat it. You just CANNOT do both.

So to me, widen the field and widen some of the WR splits. Spacing needs to be an issue for defensive play-callers to deal with.

It's the same thing down by the Goal Line. I've never seen NFL teams run as much Zone defense down by the goal line like people do in Madden and there's a reason for it. When teams come out in spread by the goal line spacing is too much of a concern to be sitting in zone all the time. In madden, Space is not a concern so guys sit in zone all game. I mean damn, you come out in empty at the 5 and guys are comfortable going base align 43 Normal Cover 2 or 3-4 Odd Cover 4 and hard flat the seam flats by the OLB's.

The sandbox needs to be opened up. It's the same thing on offense too. Everyone generally runs the same thing because on defense everyone is just zoning up. Widen the field and people will have to run some man. Wouldn't have a choice.

Re: Madden 19 Wishlist

Another wish, instead of the out as a hot route for Backs out of the backfield, can we get the angle route instead. Outs are pretty redundant when you already have the swing route and the delay route going in the same direction.

It is game breaking and the reason why I say that is because it basically prevents you from running a play in the game unless you want to get torched.
