My guess is it was intentional then to get the default uniforms right for people choosing to play the matchup.

They're probably not capable of making the home team wear their away uniforms without breaking something else. Fortunately since there isn't a coin toss anymore, there really isn't anything to differentiate the home and away team on a neutral field

I don't think it matters anyway, but the coin toss is added for the Super Bowl presentation.
