how to defend a scrambling QBs

Now that we finally have a scrambling QBs in the game, how do you actually defend against them? I mean, setting Pass rushing coaching adjustment to conservative puts your linemen into contain mode but also weakens your pass rush. Is there a way to hot rout a single defender into contain pre-snap? This option was there in previous Maddens (at least until M25) but in M18 there is a "bluff rush" option instead which I guess is not the same. So how you defend?

Awesome, glad we can actually have this post.

I usually SPY QB. If it becomes and issue. I fast LB, so helps a bit.

That sure is part of the equation but according to my experience spying defenders only shadow QB's movement to a certain degree but do not actively run towards him, at least not quickly enough (most of the time). I need something more agressive.

Contain plays is certainly an option but what if there are not a lot of them in the playbook, and if, then mostly in dime/nickel formations? Hint: editing an existing playbook is not an option (for me).

You can contain on any play with a quick pre-snap adjustment. I like to do this on every play against users as well because you can get a lot of sacks on guys that roll out to avoid the rush by habit rather than stepping up in the pocket. Helps a lot against CPU too.

EDIT: I think it is L2, R1 on Ps4 but I can't remember... It's a real quick adjustment that takes no time even with the awful PS4 lag.

Re: how to defend a scrambling QBs

In a game last night DeShaun Watson was scrambling all over me until I put Solomon Thomas in spy. He did a great job of tracking him laterally. I heard somewhere that if you press R3 it will make nearby players leave their zones and go after the QB, I tried this on a couple of occasions but it wasn't clear if it was working.

Hah, since the patch I am actually using QB spy plays or adjusting to contain.

I literally never bothered to call QB Spy this year until the patch (which is a good thing, I SHOULD have to worry about QB's taking off).
