Is adaptive a.i. in commentary possible?

Is it possible for EA to scrap using real commentators and pre-recorded content in exchange for computer generated commentators who utilize adaptive a.i to speak on current and past events(stats, key games, awards, rivalries, etc within an online/offline franchise)????

Re: Is adaptive a.i. in commentary possible?

I remember in 2k basketball a couple of years back after playing through a few seasons the commenters would mention if a team had got knocked out of the playoffs early the year before or if a player had been struggling and stuff like that, and other games have done it where AI will respond differently based on your characters appearance and actions.
So I think they can get pretty close to true dynamic adaptive commentary.

I think EA is headed in the right direction with it's current system. What is needed continuity going forward to avoid ' starting over ' with new announcing team.

As pointed out they are getting there by building a library of thousands upon thousands of lines the game can pull from. Going towards computer generated voices is a step backwards as that technology still isn't very good at expressing excitement or really a lot of the voice inflections in general we use regularly.

Computer generated voices? My man you don't talk to Siri much do you lol.

EA is taking the right approach. Get lower profile guys that are amicable to recording more lines and that don't cost as much as the big name TV personalities.

Then write the logic that determines when each line is played back.

Where I disagree with EA's approach is what those extra lines are. We've gotten multiple commentary updates, but I've never noticed anything new in my CFM. I believe the extra lines are real world specific.

Instead of this line: "Kareem Hunt had a very good rookie campaign, leading the league in rushing yards" where that entire line is recorded at once, making it only apply to Kareem Hunt, they should record the line as "led the NFL in rushing yards as a rookie."
Then in playback two separate lines get called on, so we have
"Kareem Hunt" "led the NFL in rushing yards as a rookie"

(First and last names would be recorded separately, it was just more convenient this way)

I was thinking about something way more advanced...something like on "Westworld". I was playing the falcons in a key game that would determine who would be the nfc south champ, as well as there position in the playoffs....the commentators made no mention of it in the pre game, game, or post game. It was just a another nfc south game.

Yeah it feels like the commentary has improved, but it has been geared towards the play now crowd. There is little immersion for CFM. NBA2k does a great job at this.
