That wasn't a breakout. Who doesn't throw for 4000 anymore? He also had like 18 picks and pretty much every one of his TDs was in garbage time. Bortles sucks it was a mistake for the Jags to not take a QB. They should've taken Lamar.

Not disagreeing with anything other than a 2nd year qb throwing 35 tds and over 4400 yards isn't anything to scoff at. Not many qbs can say that even if it's considered garbage time stats are involved. 18 picks are a little high but Eli and our very own Brett Favre consistently threw that many and more.

That season those numbers were almost all accumulated in garbage time. Bortles has been awful forever, and he will continue to be awful. The Jags could've had Tyrod for about a third less than what they are paying Bortles, and they could've had Lamar Jackson for even less.

The only silver lining is that they are only committed to him for one more season. It's going to be very difficult to keep that defense together if they have a ~$20M cap hit QB on the roster.

At this point I agree that they should've went elsewhere but just saying his 2nd season and being drafted that high and all... there was hope that he was progressing. Even if it was garbage stats most crap team qbs don't approach those numbers.

Let's face it though most starting qbs aren't much better but certainly almost all are at least marginally better such as Tyrod. Andy Dalton,for instance is only slightly better and I'm not sure about Joe Flacco anymore. Just to name a few.

Bortles is one of the worst QB's in the league. Jags should have brought in someone new but they couldn't make the right choice.

Dolphins. They seem like a team who is in need of a lot of turnover. I always want to go to a team that is in need of full rebuild like how Jets and Browns were in Madden 18.

I would trade Tannehill and see what I could get for Wake. I would tank the season and focus on scouting and draft and Free Agency. For the first 2 years, I wouldn't play any games, just focus on roster development. Then be ready to play in 3rd season with rebuilt roster

I've done this for 1 season, can't do 2. Just feel too detached from what happened etc.
